Book of the Month : April 2018

Dear Fiction Addicts, By now you know I love holidays and I love it even more when the month begins with a holiday. Happy Easter! I’m so happy that death could not hold my Saviour down and he lives. Wow! It’s April already and I can’t wait to unveil the books for this month. I’m quite sure you had a memorable time with the books of this months and I’m thinking of pushing the limits this month because well…. Just because I know WE CAN!!! This  April we’ll be reading not one. Not two but three books. Yes I know WE CAN. So here’s the reading list for this month 1 The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware Lo Backlock , a Journalist who writes for a travel magazine  has just been given an assignment of a lifetime: a week on a luxury cruise with only a handful of cabins. The sky is clear, the waters calm, and the veneered selected guests jovial in the picturesque North Sea. At first Lo’s stay is nothing but pleasant: the cabins are plush, the parties are sparklin...

Book of the Month: MARCH

Dear FictionAddicts, It’s March! The rains have started and the weather is much cooler, thank goodness. I would not have survived another day of the drastic heatwave. February could easily pass for the hottest month this year asides from being the month of love. The month of love has come and gone but we should not stop showing love. Let’s give a little more love everyday. Now I’m sure you all had the best of time with Collen Hoover’s It Ends With Us last February. One of our ardent readers wrote in on Instagram a couple of days after I posted the book of month for February saying she finished it already and it was lovely. This got me thinking, more books every month. FictionAddicts, February 2018 is the last time we will ever read one book. I promise. Fiction addicts honor, just as in Scout’s honor. This month we will read two books: Emily Giffin’s Heart of the Matter : This psychological fiction follows the lives of two different women. ...

Book of the Month: FEBRUARY

Cheers to the new month FictionAddicts! January was such a long month with almost 365 days. I’m glad it’s over now and it is with so much joy in my heart that I welcome you all to the Month of  Love … February. May your hearts ever swell and burst with love and may you never run out of love. Now imagine you’re in love with that somebody and everything is lovey-dovey until the day you get abused by that person you so deeply love and care about. In fact your partner, or lover, fiance, fiancee, spouse is perfect except for one thing. He/she is abusive towards you. What would you do? This month we’ll be reading, Lily has not always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She has come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up- she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything on Lilly’s li...

Happy Not So New Year!

Dear FictionAddicts, Hmmm. I don’t even know where to start. First of, Happy Not So New Year! It’s been such a long time I sat down to write this blog. I may have my excuses but none of it justifies me abandoning you all for so long.  You all deserve better. I mean, it’s been a minute too long. In 2018 I intend to never let the posts be late. That said, I want to thank you all for your support in the last one year.  I love you all immensely. It is my desire and hope that we all get to read more books this year than we did the previous year without life interrupting us (unnecessarily). I’m sure by now most of you have noticed my gender bias for female authors. I’m just soooo comfy reading a female authors than male ones. I think with all the disparity going on in the world in remuneration of the male and female sex, for the same job role I’m well within my rights to love reading authors of the same gender as I am. I won’t be surprised if the same thing goi...

BOOK OF THE MONTH: NOVEMBER

Dear FictionAddicts, I can hardly believe 2017 is 80% complete. It’s true what they say, ‘Time waits for no man” ( and woman too). Well in a way I’m glad the year is running out. There were some high points in the year and some really bad low points. I’m hoping the new year will bring best things to all of us. I’m sure we had fun reading Paula Hawkins’ thriller, Into the water.  Truth be told, I’ve not read even 50 pages of the book yet (thanks to work and other pressing commitments)but the little I’ve read tells me it’s sure to keep one on the edge. It literally gives me the chills. This month we’ll read Attachments by Rainbow Rowell: Film critic Beth and copy editor Jennifer are best of friend and coworkers at Omaha Courier Newspaper. In their emails, they both exchange witty banter, jokes and an underlying affection to help them get through their frustrations in life and love. Jennifer is married to a...

Helloooo Fiction Addicts reading me from all over the world.  Happy Independence Celebrations Nigeria! May the labours of all our heroes past never be in vain. I trust we are all enjoying the holiday. As always, I’m sorry the post is one day late as a result of circumstances beyond my control. September was an awesome month for me and I’m sure you all had a September to remember. I really do hope you had loads of fun with the books of the last month. I particularly found them unputdownable. I always said to myself  until there were no chapters left. This month we will be reading Paula Hawkins’ INTO THE WATER . Paula Hawkins is the bestselling author of The Girl On the Train which  was adapted for the screen with the same title. Into the Water : Women in a small British town have been downing since 1679 at a place popularly known as the Drowning Pool. Danielle Abbot, an award winning wr...

Book of the Month: SEPTEMBER

Fiction addicts get in here!!! It’s  Sweet September.  It’s the month of my birth and I’m super duper excited. #September11loading. Y’all have to just admit it, September is the best month of the year. I mean the month kicks off with a two day holiday in celebration of our Muslim folk which falls into a weekend and as Nigerians, we know how we do. These are the times I just love my country, we know how to make a good holiday.  I’m sure you had the best time with our book of the month for August. Gosh, Sophie Kinsella had me in stitches. I chose her because truth be told I personally needed some laughs because the last two months have not been the best for me but I’m really  optimistic everything will turn out right eventually because God’s in my boat. This month we’ll be reading two books, The Third Wife by Lisa Jewell and Big Girl by Danielle Steel. The Third Wife, by Lisa Jewell (...
