BOOK OF THE MONTH : MARCH, 2021

Dear FictionAddicts, 2021 is already 2 months and 10 days old. I’m not going to give a new year speech, the year is already old and 2020 was a …..well, it was a vibe, mood, cruise, a corona virus year and a forced vacation all wrapped up in one. It’s March and the weather is not friendly at all with the sun scorching everything in its path . Please drink lots of water, stay hydrated, wear a mask and stay safe. This March we will read The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware and The Other Woman by Sandie Jones   The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware When Rowan Caine stumbles upon the ad, she was looking for something else completely. But it seemed too good an opportunity to pass on. It was a live-in nanny post, with a very generous salary. When she arrives at Heatherbrae House, Rowan is smitten by the luxurious “smart” home fitted with every modern convenience imaginable, by the beautiful Scottish Highlands and by this picture-perfect family. Her employer Sandra Elincour...

BOOK OF THE MONTH JULY 2019

Dear FictionAddicts, It’s raining, it's pouring…Raining cats and dogs and shall I say it’s the best time of the year for me. I just want to take a break from all the hassles of work and adult life, snuggle in bed with a large mug of coffee and several books till the rains go away. Boy do I love me some rain! This month we’ll read, The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine and How to Walk Away by Katherine Center . The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine, 2017 Amber Patterson is fed up. She is tired of being a nobody: a plain invisible woman who bends into the background. She deserves more - a life of money and power like the blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted. To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne- a socialite and philanthropist – and her business mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale. Amber’s envy could eat her alive… if she didn’t have a plan. Amber uses Daphne...

BOOK OF THE MONTH: SEPTEMBER 2018

Dear FictionAddicts,   I’ve been waiting for this moment all through August. Let me just say this right now, September will be the best month so far this year. I just feel it my spirit. I mean I can feel good vibes all around already. In fact I get the feeling that some new and interesting stuff will happen to lots and lots of people this month.  So let’s all drink to that. I’m sure you had the best time with our books of the month for August. I particularly found Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng, totally unputdownable. This month we’ll read My Husband’s Wife by Jane Corry and Confessions of a Domestic Failure by Bunmi Laditan. My Husband’s Wife by Jane Corry:   When young lawyer Lily, marries Ed, she’s determined to make a fresh start. To leave the secrets of the past behind. But then she takes on her first murder case and meets Joe, a convicted murderer whom Lily is strangely drawn to and for whom she will soon be willing to risk any...

BOOK OF THE MONTH: August 2018

Fiction addicts get in here! Hellooo its AUGUST and I have a confession to make. You see, I’ve been   putting the books on out here from month to month but I only just caught up with the books of the month this July. What I mean is that I post of the books of the month but I don’t actually read the book of the month. I actually read the books of the last month.   Can you imagine that? Well that’s what happens when life gets in the way of my reading.   I had to read three books from previous posts this July just to catch up. I pushed myself hard. Now that my confession is out of the way, I feel relieved. I trust we were pleased with An American Marriage and The Girl on the Train . I get the feeling that An American Marriage will be made into a TV series or movie. It was a very nice read with so many likeable quotes. This month we will read, The Woman in the Window and Little Fires Everywhere The Woman in the Window by A.J Finn: Anna Fox lives alone ...

BOOK OF THE MONTH: JULY

Dear Fiction Addicts, Welcome to July! The first half of the year is gone and if we haven’t hit our targets yet, we still have time to put in effort and set the ball in motion. Take that first step and keep moving. Remember to work smart and not hard. June had its share of woes and sadness. The killings in Jos, Plateau State and the petrol tanker explosion on Micheal Otedola Bridge, along Lagos Ibadan Expressway, Lagos that claimed the lives of so many Nigerians in the last month is just very sad. Our prayers are with those who lost loved ones in these ugly incidents. This month we will read An American Marriage by Tayari Jones and The Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins. The Girl On the Train was a special request by one of our readers -@a_jokeade. An American Marriage by Tayari Jones Newlyweds Celestial and Roy are the embodiment of both the American Dream and the New South. He is a young executive, and she is an artist on the brink of an exciting caree...

Book of the Month: MARCH

Dear FictionAddicts, It’s March! The rains have started and the weather is much cooler, thank goodness. I would not have survived another day of the drastic heatwave. February could easily pass for the hottest month this year asides from being the month of love. The month of love has come and gone but we should not stop showing love. Let’s give a little more love everyday. Now I’m sure you all had the best of time with Collen Hoover’s It Ends With Us last February. One of our ardent readers wrote in on Instagram a couple of days after I posted the book of month for February saying she finished it already and it was lovely. This got me thinking, more books every month. FictionAddicts, February 2018 is the last time we will ever read one book. I promise. Fiction addicts honor, just as in Scout’s honor. This month we will read two books: Emily Giffin’s Heart of the Matter : This psychological fiction follows the lives of two different women. ...
