Book of the Month: SEPTEMBER

Fiction addicts get in here!!!

It’s  Sweet September.  It’s the month of my birth and I’m super duper excited. #September11loading. Y’all have to just admit it, September is the best month of the year. I mean the month kicks off with a two day holiday in celebration of our Muslim folk which falls into a weekend and as Nigerians, we know how we do. These are the times I just love my country, we know how to make a good holiday.

I’m sure you had the best time with our book of the month for August. Gosh, Sophie Kinsella had me in stitches. I chose her because truth be told I personally needed some laughs because the last two months have not been the best for me but I’m really  optimistic everything will turn out right eventually because God’s in my boat.

This month we’ll be reading two books, The Third Wife by Lisa Jewell and Big Girl by Danielle Steel.

The Third Wife, by Lisa Jewell (2015) : Maya, 30 year old third wife of Adrian Wolfe is hit by a bus late one night. Was it an accident or a suicide?  Adrian begins to investigate the cause a year after his wife’s death. Cracks and secrets are revealed in his perfect family. His divorce from his his two previous wives had been amicable or so it seemed and his children, all five of them were resilient as ever or so he thought.  But something or someone must have driven Maya over the edge. A strange woman is stalking Adrian and he believes she has answers, but he must first track her down.

Big Girl by Danielle Steel (2010): A chubby little girl with blond hair, blue eyes and ordinary looks, Victoria Dawson has always felt out of place in her family, especially in body-conscious Los Angeles.  Her father, Jim, is tall and slender and, her mother Christina, is a fine-boned, dark-haired beauty. Both are self-centered, outspoken, and disappointed by their daughter’s looks. After the birth of Victoria’s perfect younger sister, Gracie, her father liked to refer to his firstborn as “Our tester cake”. With Gracie, everyone agreed that Jim and Christina got it right.

Every other member of the family can eat what they like and not gain and ounce but Victoria must watch everything she eats and also endure belittling and snide remarks and comments about her body while her academic achievements go unacknowledged. Soon after college, she moves to New York just to get away from home.

She lands her dream job as a high school teacher and despite tension with her parents Victoria remains close to her sister. Though they could not be more different in looks, they loved each other unconditionally. But regardless of her accomplishments her parents just always know what to say to bring her down.
When Gracie announces her engagement to a man who is an exact replica of their narcissistic father, Victoria worries about her sister’s happiness and with no man of her own she feels like a failure once again. But as the wedding draws near, a chance encounter, an act of stunning betrayal , and a family confrontation leads to a turning point.

Welcome to the world of a fiction addict!

Hi there lovelies! Welcome to FictionAddictbooks.blogspot.com. I’m so glad to be writing this blog and did I mention this is my first blog.  I had taken a long hiatus from reading for pleasure (a hiatus that's unforgivably long) and only recently returned from the said hiatus. So I kind of have a busy life and all but I decided it was time to go back to my earliest hobby (if reading fiction qualifies as a hobby).  The purpose of FictionAddictbooks blog is to share my journey through the pages of books that I read. I want to share the lows and highs, the suspense, the humor,, the thrills  and all that is in each book that I read with YOU. I hope to do this without boring you. . So come on along with me as we journey into the magical world of  fiction books.

This March we will read The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware and The Other Woman by Sandie Jones   The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware When Rowan Caine stumbles upon the ad, she was looking for something else completely. When she arrives at Heatherbrae House, Rowan is smitten by the luxurious “smart” home fitted with every modern convenience imaginable, by the beautiful Scottish Highlands and by this picture-perfect family. Her employer Sandra Elincour...
