BOOK OF THE MONTH: NOVEMBER 2019

Dear FictionAddicts,

I know it’s been a minute. As usual I went into hibernation mode without notice. I’m sorry guys but I’m back now. Who missed me?

What a way to kick of the weekend, which I know is the biggest scam of all time because before close and open your eyes, it's all gone. I’m sure you all are itching to know which books are up next so I’ll just get to it without any annoying preamble.

This month we’ll read  Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris and It’s Always The Husband by Michele Campbell.

Behind Closed Doors, B.A.Paris:

Everyone knows a couple like Jack and
Grace. He has looks and wealth, she has charm and elegance. You might not want to like them but you do. You’d like to know Grace better. But it’s difficult, because you realise Jack and Grace are never apart. Some might call this true love. Others might ask why Grace never answers the phone. Or why she can never meet for coffee, even when she doesn’t work. How can she cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim? And why are there bars on one of the bedroom windows?  Sometimes, the perfect marriage is the perfect lie.

Here are some popular quotes from this novel.

  • "And they don't have children yet. Gallantry tends to fly out of the window once familiarity and babies install themselves in a relationship."
  • " I can't help thinking it's a shame he's such a sadistic bastard, because he has such wonderful manners."
  • I look around at everybody laughing and joking together and struggle to understand how my life has become a living hell that nobody present could even begin to imagine."

It’s Always the Husband,  Michele Campbell
Kate, Aubrey and Jenny first met as roommates
and soon become
inseparable despite being as different as three women can be. Kate was beautiful, wild, wealthy and damaged. Aubrey on financial aid came from a broken home and wanted more than anything, to distance herself from her past. And Jenny was a striver- ambitious, brilliant and
determined to succeed. As an unlikely friendship formed, the three of them swore, they would always be there for each other. But twenty years later one of them is standing at the edge of a bridge and someone is urging her to jump. How did it come to this? Kate married the party boy, Aubrey married up and Jenny married the boy next door. But how can these three women love and hate each other? Can feelings this strong lead to murder? When one of them dies under mysterious circumstances, will every one assume, as is always the case, that it’s always the husband?

Here are some popular quotes from this novel

  • "Aubrey became a reader early so she wouldn't feel alone in her apartment at night."
  • But in the midst of the bustle, he felt a strange communion with Kate".

Dear FictionAddicts, 2021 is already 2 months and 10 days old. I’m not going to give a new year speech, the year is already old and 2020 was a …..well, it was a vibe, mood, cruise, a corona virus year and a forced vacation all wrapped up in one. It’s March and the weather is not friendly at all with the sun scorching everything in its path . Please drink lots of water, stay hydrated, wear a mask and stay safe. BOOK OF THE MONTH: August 2018

Fiction addicts get in here! Hellooo its AUGUST and I have a confession to make. You see, I’ve been   putting the books on out here from month to month but I only just caught up with the books of the month this July. What I mean is that I post of the books of the month but I don’t actually read the book of the month. I actually read the books of the last month.   Can you imagine that? Well that’s what happens when life gets in the way of my reading.   I had to read three books from previous posts this July just to catch up. I pushed myself hard. Now that my confession is out of the way, I feel relieved. I trust we were pleased with An American Marriage and The Girl on the Train . I get the feeling that An American Marriage will be made into a TV series or movie. It was a very nice read with so many likeable quotes. This month we will read, The Woman in the Window and Little Fires Everywhere The Woman in the Window by A.J Finn: Anna Fox lives alone – a recluse in
