BOOK OF THE MONTH JUNE, 2019

Dear FictionAddicts,

I have come again, as usual. Please do not hold a grudge against me. As you must have noticed I haven’t posted anything since November, 2018. I don’t know what excuse to give this time around. I guess I was in a rut and each time I tried to write a post I just found myself putting it off till some other time. And that’s how I found myself not posting anything for almost seven months. 2019 is already 6months old and there’s just six months left in the year but we’ll make the best of the time that’s left. You know what they say, IT’S NEVER TOO LATE.

So, let me welcome you all to the second half of 2019 and cheers to the rest of the year.

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, 2015

Vianne and Isabelle have always been close despite their differences. The younger, bolder sister Isabelle lives in Paris while Vianne lives a quiet and content life in the French countryside with her husband Antioine. When World War II strikes, Antoine is sent off to fight, Vianne and Isabelle’s father send Isabell to help her older sister cope. As the war progresses, it’s not only the sisters’ relationship that is tested, but their strength and individual senses of right and wrong. With life as they know it changing in unbelievably horrific ways, the sisters find themselves facing frightening situations and responding in ways they never imagined as bravery and resistance take different forms in each of their actions.
