Book of the month: July

Fiction addicts get in here!!!

It's  a new month and we are done with the first half of the year. We may not have met our targets and goals for the first half of the year but surely we made some progress and we should be thankful for that.

Anyone notice how it's always raining these days? Well I love it when it rains. It's a good time to snuggle up in bed with a good book and several cups of coffee. Unfortunately I'm writing this post at my desk in the office, therefore perish every thought of snuggling up in bed.

The books of  the  month of July are After You by Jojo Moyes and Hedge Fund Wives by Tatiana Boncompagni.

After You by Jojo Moyes is the sequel to Me before You which we read in February and it takes off soon after Me before You ended. Lou's taken a job in an Irish themed bar at the airport. She's also bought a flat with some of the money Will left her. After having drank so much wine , one night she climbs to the roof top of her flat and while thinking about her grief over William's death she slips off  and falls two stories down her building. She is taken to the hospital by paramedics and when she is discharged she begins to attend grief counselling sessions where she meets Sam, who happens to one of the paramedics that saved her life and they soon start dating. One night, Louisa gets a visitor who introduces herself as Lily Houghton-Miller and claims to be Will's daughter. She also introduces Lily to the Traynors. Lou eventually invites Lilly to stay with her for a while and is glad to have a part of Will with her until Lilly begins to show erratic behavior and Lou's forced to kick her out of the flat. Lou eventually discovers why Lilly has been erratic. She is being blackmailed...

Hedge Fund Wives by Tatiana Boncompagni: Marcy Emerson becomes an accidental Hedge Fund Wife when she, being the supportive wife that she is moves to New York with her husband when he is offered a job to manage a hedge fund. Marcy gives up her dream and stops working, after all Hedge Fund Wives don't work. To top it all up, she's not the quite the Hedge Fund Wife material as she never quite fits in her new world even though she made a few genuine friends. She tries to get pregnant but...Anyway she soon gets exhausted with the whole hedge fund wife life style. Her husband becomes involved with another woman who is thinner and blonder. They eventually get divorced and Marcy is left to pick up the pieces and she does do wonderfully well.

Dear FictionAddicts, Five, Four, Three, Two, One!!!!, Happy (Not)So New Year! (the year is already Seven days old but…). Does anyone wonder where the holidays went so quickly…? Sigh. Now it’s back to the trenches, more goals to set and more targets to meet and even more deadly deadlines. I want to quickly say that I’m glad we made it into the new year. It is my prayer that this year counts for you all in every positive way possible. Great milestones achieved with less stress. May the grace of God be more than sufficient for US all this year. Amen. That said, this month we will read, The Lying Game by Ruth Ware and The Guardians by John Grisham. The Lying Game by Ruth Ware   Four women have been carrying a terrible secret since their boarding school days and that secret is about to be literally unearthed. The text message arrives in the small hours of the night. It’s just three words: I need you. Isa drops everything, takes her baby daughter and heads str

BOOK OF THE MONTH: August 2018

Fiction addicts get in here! Hellooo its AUGUST and I have a confession to make. You see, I’ve been   putting the books on out here from month to month but I only just caught up with the books of the month this July. What I mean is that I post of the books of the month but I don’t actually read the book of the month. I actually read the books of the last month.   Can you imagine that? Well that’s what happens when life gets in the way of my reading.   I had to read three books from previous posts this July just to catch up. I pushed myself hard. Now that my confession is out of the way, I feel relieved. I trust we were pleased with An American Marriage and The Girl on the Train . I get the feeling that An American Marriage will be made into a TV series or movie. It was a very nice read with so many likeable quotes. This month we will read, The Woman in the Window and Little Fires Everywhere The Woman in the Window by A.J Finn: Anna Fox lives alone – a recluse in

BOOK OF THE MONTH : MARCH, 2021

Dear FictionAddicts, 2021 is already 2 months and 10 days old. I’m not going to give a new year speech, the year is already old and 2020 was a …..well, it was a vibe, mood, cruise, a corona virus year and a forced vacation all wrapped up in one. It’s March and the weather is not friendly at all with the sun scorching everything in its path . Please drink lots of water, stay hydrated, wear a mask and stay safe. This March we will read The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware and The Other Woman by Sandie Jones   The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware When Rowan Caine stumbles upon the ad, she was looking for something else completely. But it seemed too good an opportunity to pass on. It was a live-in nanny post, with a very generous salary. When she arrives at Heatherbrae House, Rowan is smitten by the luxurious “smart” home fitted with every modern convenience imaginable, by the beautiful Scottish Highlands and by this picture-perfect family. Her employer Sandra Elincourt is
